How Can I Boost My Xeon Build’s Performance?

Hey everyone! I put together a Xeon build a couple of years back, featuring an E5 2697 v2 on an X79 motherboard. Here are the specs: my CPU is a Xeon 2697 v2, I've got 64 GB of OWC RAM (even though I don't use all of it), and a 6650XT GPU. I'm looking for tips on how to squeeze a bit more performance out of my setup. I've been using ThrottleStop, but I'm curious if there are any other tweaks I can try. I've heard advice about just building a new rig, but with prices skyrocketing lately, I'm wondering if it's worth it to wait a bit or just stick with what I've got. Anyone have any suggestions?

Honestly, the Xeon 2697 v2 wasn’t designed for overclocking, so you're kind of limited there. Plus, it's getting pretty old—many budget CPUs today would outperform it. You might want to consider upgrading if you're looking for a significant boost, even though prices can be insane right now. But if you really love this build and aren't ready to let go, you could play around with cooling and optimizing your current settings to get the most out of it.

Your build isn't the most bottlenecked I've seen, but that CPU definitely holds it back compared to newer models. If you're upgrading your GPU soon, that might relieve some pressure, but keep in mind that the CPU will still limit you in some scenarios. Just upgrade when you feel ready, there’s no rush!
