Hey folks, I'm in a bit of a predicament and could use some advice. I got an iPad Pro 13-inch in May 2024, and after a year, I plugged it in to charge, but when I checked hours later, it was still dead. I tried charging it for days, but nothing worked. It was in perfect condition before this. I hesitated to go to the Apple Store right away because I was unsure about repair costs and didn't even consider the warranty at first. When I finally went in early June, they quoted me a staggering $999 for a motherboard replacement. I've always treated my iPad with care—never dropped it or exposed it to water. After talking to Apple Support and a Senior Advisor, I found out they couldn't assist me since it was just past the warranty period. Now I'm back in school without a working device, and I feel stuck since the iPad was supposed to last longer than just a year. Does anyone else have experience with similar issues or know what I can do to get some help from Apple in this situation? Any suggestions would be super appreciated!

Just so you know, iPads usually come with a 2-year warranty. If you bought yours in May 2024, it should be under warranty until May 2026. If it’s a battery issue and hasn’t been used much, it might need a jumpstart. Lithium batteries can be finicky if they dip too low. It’s a good idea to check on them monthly to avoid this kind of trouble!
I wouldn't jump to conclusions about the motherboard being fried. I've heard from friends that the Apple Store often tells customers the same thing, but it might not be the case. I'd suggest taking your iPad to a different repair shop for a second opinion—who knows, it might be a cheaper fix!
Definitely look into some third-party repair shops for quotes. They might offer better prices than Apple. And for future purchases, consider other brands if you're frustrated with Apple. Just a thought!
That’s definitely my next step! I just wanted to see if there was any chance Apple would help.
Don’t listen to the anti-Apple talk—Apple products are usually quite reliable. Their quality assurance is typically top-notch compared to others!

I went to one shop, and they said mine wouldn’t turn on either, and the only option they gave was for a replacement. I was hesitant to waste more money elsewhere. Maybe your idea of getting a second opinion is worth exploring!
