Hey everyone! I'm upgrading from an AMD FX-6300 paired with an RX 570 to a new build, and I'm looking for some advice on my current plan. I want to pair a Ryzen 5 5600 with an RX 9070 XT for now, and I aim to upgrade the CPU later if needed. My goal is to achieve good performance for 1440p gaming, mostly playing AAA single-player titles, not esports. Here's what I have planned:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600
- CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Freezer 36
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 AORUS Elite V2
- RAM: 2x16 GB DDR4-3200 CL16
- GPU: XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT
- Storage: 1 TB NVMe SSD
- Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow
- Power Supply: Corsair RM850e
- Case Fans: ARCTIC F12 (5-pack)
- Optional: GPU support bracket (if necessary)
I really appreciate any thoughts on whether the Ryzen 5 5600 will bottleneck the 9070 XT at 1440p, if this setup is fine as a temporary solution, and what CPU upgrade path would make the most sense later on. Thanks!

How much is the Ryzen 5 5600 going for? I've seen it go over $150, and if that's the case, I recommend just picking up a 5800XT instead! If you can find it used at a decent price, then it's worth considering. I did spot a Ryzen 7 5700x for about $160, which is quite similar in performance for gaming.
I think your setup is pretty balanced for 1440p gaming! You've got a great combo here. The Ryzen 5 5600 paired with the RX 9070 XT should work well together up until AM6. If you were doing more content creation or video editing, an upgrade might be necessary, but for now, this looks solid!
Thanks! Good to hear it's balanced for 1440p. I'm mainly focused on AAA single-player games, so this reassures me.
I have a Ryzen 5700x with a 9070 XT and it performs excellently at 1440p. You should be able to get great results as well!
Yes, considering the RAM and SSD you’re planning, your setup should work just fine!
There might be some bottleneck, but it really depends on the games you play. I saw Hardware Canucks did a video on this, which outlines how significant the bottleneck could be. It's worth checking out!
Thanks!

Around $175 in my area, but the used market for Ryzen CPUs isn’t great here. I'm leaning toward that Ryzen 7 5700x since it seems a solid alternative!
