What’s the Best Distro for a Smooth KDE Experience with Pop!_OS?

I'm looking for some guidance on setting up my system with Pop!_OS 24.04 and KDE. I've had quite the frustrating time getting everything to work smoothly, especially after switching to a new AMD GPU. To give you a better picture, I'm currently running Pop!_OS with KDE Plasma 5.27.12, and I've experienced issues like freezes during the initial login on Plasma Wayland, which has made it impossible to use until I reverted to X11. I'm keen to utilize Wayland because I want to run Waydroid for playing Arknights. However, my experience has been rocky due to recent issues with COSMIC. I'm considering whether I should stick it out with Pop!_OS or switch to a different distro that might play nicer with KDE and Wayland. Any advice on which distro would support KDE well and possibly eliminate these issues?

It sounds like you might want to consider trying a different distribution that aligns better with KDE. Both EndeavourOS and Cachy are Arch-based options worth looking into because they offer bleeding-edge updates and support for the latest KDE patches. Plus, they handle the AMD drivers well in Wayland. For your gaming needs, you can easily install Steam, Wine, and Lutris using terminal commands. It's not as scary as it sounds—just a few commands and you'll be all set!

I get your point, but since OP mentioned they switched to an AMD 9060, installing NVIDIA libraries shouldn't be necessary, right?

Exactly! I'm not sure why NVIDIA libraries would come up since I moved to AMD.

You might want to try PikaOS with KDE. It's known for being user-friendly and should support your needs well. Plus, if you're looking into video editing with DaVinci Resolve, there's a pretty helpful video on how to install it that you can check out here: [DaVinci Resolve Installation Guide](https://youtu.be/eAAMepKOp7U?si=YknONZSfKb0YPqUL&t=1017).
