How to Reset an iPad That Only Plays a Video?

Hey everyone! I recently bought an iPad that was previously used as a display unit in a store. It just continuously loops a video without letting me interact with it. Right now, I can only restart it using the power and home buttons, but after a brief moment showing the home screen, it jumps right back into the video and locks me out. I managed to get to the restore screen using the link from Apple, but their instructions haven't helped me out. Any advice on how to make this iPad usable again?

It sounds like you need to put the iPad into recovery mode and restore it to factory settings using iTunes. You can follow the detailed steps outlined in this Apple support article: https://support.apple.com/en-us/108925. That should help you break the video loop and regain control.

I tried that method, but every time I go into recovery mode and follow the steps, it just reboots normally without any changes.

Just a hunch, but you might want to check if you got this iPad from a retail store. If it’s an ex-display unit, try doing a 3-finger tap and hold on the screen—look for a 'Disable' or 'Unenroll' option. If that doesn’t work, you should check the iPad’s status in Apple's database using the serial number. You'll likely need a paid GSX report for detailed info. If it’s iCloud locked or a Chimera device, you're out of luck, but if it’s just MDM profiled, you can bypass that easily.
