Is Bazzite the Best Linux Distro for Moonlight Streaming?

I'm disabled and rely on assistive eye tracking on Windows, which makes exploring Linux a bit tricky for me. I currently use a remote desktop solution to access my gaming PC, streaming from my RTX 3060ti to a mini PC setup in my living room using Moonlight and Sunshine. I've been having a blast trying out different Linux distributions, but I've mostly stuck with Bazzite since I like its features, although I ran into an issue when it installed Retroarch to a system directory that I couldn't edit to add custom shaders. To fix that, I used a portable version of Retroarch.

I've also experimented with Debian-based distros like Pop_OS and PikaOS, but they didn't seem to work with Moonlight, and I couldn't use Steam Link either. I heard this might have to do with Wayland, and I'm worried about how that shift might affect my ability to stream locally in the future. So far, Bazzite seems to meet my needs, especially with gaming modding guides from the Steam Deck that seem directly applicable. Ideally, I want to rely less on Windows and big tech, using them just as control devices while I move more towards an AMD-based setup for gaming without needing to switch soon. I'm curious if anyone else has thoughts on Bazzite or alternative distros for Moonlight.

I’ve been using CachyOS (which is Arch-based) and it works like a charm with Sunshine, just like on my Bazzite VM. You might want to consider giving it a shot!

I’ve heard CachyOS is getting a lot of buzz lately! But I’m a bit wary of Arch Linux. Does it come with a lot of its own issues you’ll need to troubleshoot? Also, I noticed it doesn’t have a traditional taskbar layout. Can it be customized?
