My parents are currently down south for the winter and are worried about their aging furnace. They had some repairs done before they left, but they are still fretting about whether it's functioning properly and if their pipes might freeze. They keep asking us to check the house's temperature, which sits at 60°F. While they live only about 20 minutes away, it's still a hassle for us to keep running over there. They do have Wi-Fi, so I'm looking for options that could help us monitor the temperature without needing to go back and forth all the time. Any inexpensive suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If your parents have any cameras set up, you could place a thermometer in view of one of them. If not, there are plenty of affordable Wi-Fi cameras available that could do the job.
You could check out systems like Mar cell, which offers a temperature and humidity monitor with a subscription plan, or a simpler option is the Temp Stick that connects to Wi-Fi without any extra fees.
Have you thought about getting a Nest thermostat? It could help monitor the temperature remotely too!
We actually bought one a while back, but when we tried to install it, there was a gap left around the old thermostat. They didn't want to manage drywall repairs, so we returned it.
A Wi-Fi temp sensor could be the simplest option. There are different models at various price points, so you might find one that fits your needs.
Perfect! I’ll look into those.
If your parents use Apple products, consider getting a HomePod mini. It has a built-in temperature and humidity sensor and can share data across devices linked to the same Apple ID.
We aren’t really an Apple family, so that won't work for us.
You might want to look for an ‘RV Pet Monitor.’ They do exactly what you need. I found a couple options, like the Waggle which requires a subscription, or the Temp Stick which doesn’t.

They don’t have any cameras. They prefer to keep it simple. I did find a remote temp sensor on Amazon, and I think I’ll go with that.
