I'm looking for help with MP4 files from my classes. My teacher posts the lectures as MP4s for us to download, but they don't include subtitles. I find it hard to keep up during playback and can't increase the speed. Is there a way to add subtitles to these files so I can understand better?

You can create subtitles using a simple text file. Just open Notepad and save your file as .srt. The format is straightforward—indicate the start and end times for the subtitles like this:
00:01:00 --> 00:01:40
Some text here
After that, if you name your subtitle file the same as your video (like Lecture.srt), most media players will automatically pick it up as subtitles. It's an easy fix!
If you're looking for more detailed ways to create subtitles, just do a quick Google search on 'how to generate subtitles for an MP4 file.' There are plenty of resources and tools out there that can guide you through the process for free!
Another option is to upload your video to YouTube as an unlisted or private video. YouTube can generate subtitles for you automatically. It’s a pretty convenient way to get them without doing the work yourself!
If you prefer a different route, you could try Dailymotion. Upload your video there (set it to private), and it can generate subtitles too. Plus, the SRT file will be available for download afterward if you need it. Just keep in mind the auto-generated subtitles may not be perfect, and you might have to tweak them a bit afterward!

That's a great tip! I'll definitely check out those resources when I get a chance.
