How Can I Transition from Manual Testing to a DevOps Engineer Role?

Hey everyone! I have a computer science degree and I'm currently working in manual testing. I'm really eager to make a move into a DevOps position within my company. I have solid skills in Python, web development, Linux, and shell scripting, but I lack knowledge in areas like cloud services, Jenkins, and Terraform. I'm looking for affordable certifications and courses to help me build the necessary skills. What would you recommend that would add value to my resume without breaking the bank? Any personal experiences would be super helpful!

First things first, figure out which cloud platform you’ll be working with (like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud). Getting infrastructure certifications in that area could be really beneficial. Instead of Jenkins, you might want to look into GitHub Actions or GitLab for CI/CD. Terraform is fantastic for infrastructure deployment too. Also, think about AWS CDK (which you can code in Python) or Azure’s Bicep. There are tons of online resources for these topics, so search around for specific courses that suit your needs!

Our team primarily uses Azure, so any Azure-based certs would definitely be more applicable for me. I've noticed a shift where many organizations seem to be leaning towards Azure these days. Can you clarify what you mean by infra-oriented certifications? Would something like the AZ-104 be a good start? I'm a bit unsure if I’m ready for that level.
