I'm looking for some advice on improving my gaming setup. My current build includes an i5-12400F CPU, an ASUS TUF B660M-PLUS D4 motherboard, an RTX 5070 GPU, and 32GB DDR4 RAM (one stick running at 3200 MHz and another at 2400 MHz). I'm gaming on a 1080p 165Hz monitor. The issue I'm facing is that my memory setup isn't optimal because the XMP-capable module is the slower 2400 MHz stick, meaning I might be bottlenecked by both my CPU and RAM. I'm considering two upgrade paths: A) buy a 1440p monitor while keeping the RAM at stable 2400 MHz in dual-channel, or B) continue using my 1080p monitor while running the XMP 2400 stick overclocked to 3200/3600 in single-channel, and potentially upgrade the RAM later when prices drop. Which option would provide the biggest boost in gaming smoothness, especially in CPU-sensitive titles? Any advice or insights would be appreciated!

Upgrading your CPU to something like the i5-13600K or even i7-12700K will give you the most significant performance boost. Also, you should focus on using both RAM sticks in dual-channel mode at JEDEC speeds. Running in dual-channel is more beneficial than just having a higher clock speed.

Exactly! Dual-channel effectively doubles your bandwidth compared to single-channel. If you can overclock the 2400 stick to around 3200 or even 3600, that could help too, but having both sticks running together will definitely improve performance more.
