I'm noticing that my laptop runs at its best performance and maximum frame rate only when it's plugged into a power source. When I disconnect it from the charger, the gaming performance drops significantly, which is puzzling. I'm looking for ways to improve its performance while it's on battery power. Here are my laptop specs:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS with Radeon Graphics (3.30 GHz)
- Memory: SODIMM 16.0 GB (DDR5) 4800Mhz (13.8 GB usable)
- Disk: SSD (NVMe)
- GPU 0: NVIDA GeForce RTX 3050
- GPU 1: AMD Radeon Graphics
It's an ASUS TUF Gaming A15.

Yeah, that's pretty much expected behavior. Sadly, there's really no way to completely 'fix' this issue since it's how laptops are designed.
This isn't unusual at all. Most gaming laptops will perform better when they're plugged in. You might want to change your power settings in Windows to prioritize performance when on battery, and also check if battery saver mode is enabled. But do keep in mind, you'll likely see a drop in frame rates and your battery will drain faster if you do that.
Ok, got it!
Laptops balance performance with battery life. If you want full performance on battery, you'll need to adjust your power settings, but keep in mind that your battery will deplete fast—possibly in under an hour. This is why if you're gaming a lot, a desktop might be a better fit for you.

Thanks for clarifying!
