I recently discovered that my Microsoft account was hacked, and the hackers are threatening to expose what they claim are my secrets unless I pay them $700. They even mentioned having a video of me engaging in private activities, which I'm confident they do not, since I never record such things. My main concern is my collection of personal photos, expense trackers, and books that I value. After changing my password, I've taken steps like removing password access and switched to using an authenticator app. Still, I've heard they might have some kind of Trojan RAT on my Mac. Should I continue using this Microsoft account, and what further steps can I take to secure it?

If you've changed your password and logged out of all sessions, you can ignore them. This sounds like a typical extortion scam where they're just trying to scare you into paying them. Stay strong and don't give in!
Why do you believe they hacked you? It sounds like they're just bluffing to get money from you. Don't let their threats get to you!

They uploaded some .txt files with links, and there's a video named "[myname]_ma5tur8ating.mp4." I didn’t open it, but the name is suspiciously crafted.
