I'm really frustrated because when I cap my FPS at 160, it often drops to around 140, and when I cap it at 120, it drops even lower, to about 90 or 100 frames per second. I'm looking for a stable FPS that won't fluctuate so much. Is this normal? What can I do to achieve a more stable performance?

Make sure your power plan is set to performance. Sometimes the default settings can limit your GPU's performance.
In-game FPS limiters can be pretty unreliable. You might want to try using tools like Special K or Riva Tuner instead for better control.
Here's the thing: if you set your FPS to a cap like 100, and your GPU can't keep up with frame delivery due to complex scenes, your average FPS can end up being lower than the cap. If you want smoother gameplay, try turning on V-Sync and removing the FPS cap; that might help!
If you have G-Sync enabled, that could be causing your FPS to dip below your cap. It usually drops by only a few frames, but worth checking!
