Is Upgrading from AM4 to AM5 Worth It for Gaming with a 5070ti?

Hey everyone! I just picked up a PNY 5070ti and I'm wondering if I should upgrade my current AM4 setup to AM5. I mainly play demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077 at almost max settings. Here's what I've got now:

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X
- GPU: PNY Nvidia 5070ti
- RAM: G.SKILL Trident Z Neo Series 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4-4000 Dual Channel

I'm debating whether transitioning to AM5 would yield a noticeable performance boost for gaming or if I should just hold out for AM6, which is expected around 2027 or 2028. Money isn't a big concern since I've found some good MOBO/RAM/CPU bundles at MicroCenter. The only thing I plan to upgrade soon is the motherboard, RAM, and CPU, which I would keep for about 4-5 years like my last setup. Any insights?

If your GPU isn't maxed out, then your current CPU might be holding you back. It really depends on whether you want to push graphical settings higher or focus on upgrading the CPU. Each choice will increase performance, but figure out what's more important for you!

Gotcha, thanks!

I think the 7600x3d bundle at $470 is a solid deal since you could recoup most of that by selling your old components. If you're looking for performance, upgrading is definitely a good move, especially with bundles available. Just out of curiosity, what screen resolution are you gaming at?

Hi, thanks for the reply! I'm at a 3440x1440 widescreen monitor and mainly play games like Cyberpunk 2077.
