I have a mini PC, and the blower fan's bearings are failing, so I want to replace it. I got some new 40x40x10mm blower fans, but the connectors don't match the motherboard fan header. Can I just cut the connector off the old fan and solder it onto the new one? The wires are of different gauges, but both fans are 5V.

Also, keep in mind that sometimes manufacturers use thicker insulation, which can make the wires look larger than they are. It's best to strip the wires down and compare them side by side to get a clear idea of the gauge differences.
Just to add, the old fan's rating is 5V .1A and the new fan is 5V .09A, so it should work fine as long as you connect them properly!
You can definitely cut off the old fan connector and solder it to the new blower fan. Just be aware that wire gauge is related to the amount of current the fan will draw, not the voltage. Make sure to check the current specifications on both fans to ensure your power source can handle it.
