I'm looking to upgrade my CPU and I'm considering either the AMD Ryzen 5800X3D or the 5900XT. I currently have a Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX motherboard, and I've been using an Intel 10700K with an RTX 3080 12GB. I'm not too happy with the Intel CPU lately, but I want to keep my 3080. The issue is that the 5800X3D seems to be one of the last best processors for AM4 but is pretty pricey. I also want to avoid spending a ton of money on a new motherboard and DDR5 RAM. Can anyone recommend which CPU to go for without breaking the bank?

Honestly, if you're mainly gaming, I recommend going for either the 5700X or 5800XT. They provide great performance without the high price tag of the 5800X3D. You'll still get solid performance without a huge jump in your budget. If you can snag a 5800X3D for under $300, that’s a deal, but make sure it’s in good working condition!
It really depends on what you're using your PC for. If gaming is your main focus, the 5800X3D is ideal since it's optimized for that. However, it can be hard to find at a good price since it's discontinued. On the other hand, the 5900XT will perform better with multi-threaded tasks, like video editing, which might not be useful for you. Just keep in mind, if you want a noticeable upgrade, you might want to consider the 5700X or the non-X3D Ryzen CPUs if you're looking to save some cash.
Make sure to evaluate what’s more important for you: high frame rates or high graphics settings. If you're just looking for solid performance in games, the Ryzen 5 5600X is a great budget pick. Overall, the extra cores on the 5900XT won't really help with gaming since most games don’t max out CPU usage, especially on lower settings.
Consider holding off on an upgrade. Your 10700K can still perform quite well, especially if you overclock it. If you're set on upgrading, focus on getting a CPU that works well with your existing setup. Sometimes waiting for the right opportunities is the best way to save.
