I've been struggling with a really unreliable internet connection. Despite trying almost every fix I've found online—like reinstalling drivers, adjusting settings in ncpa.cpl, and tinkering with throttling speeds using 'netsh int tcp' commands—nothing seems to work. I have Spectrum internet in New York, and my speeds fluctuate wildly; I should be getting 100mbps, but it often drops to 0.5mbps. It feels totally random, too, because each time I restart my adapter, the speed can be anywhere from 5mbps to 90mbps. This instability is making it impossible to play video games, and I'm at a loss for what else to try besides switching to Verizon.

I had similar issues even after getting a new modem and router, so switching equipment might not be the complete fix. Have you checked for any signal interference or looked into the network settings further?
You might want to reach out to your ISP and see if they can replace the modem, router, or any boosting devices they provided. Sometimes, the equipment they give out can be the source of these issues.
