Urgent Help Needed for Low Storage on Office PC

I'm in a bit of a bind here! Our front desk reception computer is running out of storage, which is causing a lot of stress since we rely on it to book appointments for our dental practice. I've been trying to free up space, but I've only managed to get about 1 GB cleared. Currently, I have 6.01 GB free out of a total of 237 GB on the C: Drive. According to TreeWiz, I can't access all settings but it shows that 81 GB is used by Windows and another 21 GB by Outlook. Our IT tech is suggesting we buy a brand new PC for $4,000 which is a Dell Pro Max Workstation with high specs. We need the storage to run our dental software, so I'm really looking for advice on what to do!

It sounds like the IT guy might be trying to make a big commission here. Your current system has plenty of potential. Have you considered looking for a second opinion from another IT professional? It wouldn’t hurt to figure out the exact issues before agreeing to such a pricey upgrade.

I doubt you need a brand new computer at all! If your current PC is decent, a simple storage upgrade could be all you need. It’s definitely worth investigating. Plus, that $4,000 price tag seems excessive. Have you checked what's eating up space on your drives? There might be easy fixes.

If you’re just looking for storage, I think the IT tech might be overcharging you. Instead of dropping $4,000, you could just add a 1TB SSD for about $100-$150. Most likely, your current setup can be upgraded without having to buy a whole new machine. Seriously, check out a local repair shop and see what they can do for you!

Honestly, you might even want to look into external storage options too, which are much cheaper and could work perfectly for your needs. Be wary of overly expensive solutions—they often aren’t necessary!

From your specs, it looks like you’ve got a solid machine already. You mentioned needing storage, and while the IT guy seems keen on selling you a new computer, I bet a fresh drive or even an external SSD could solve your problem without breaking the bank. Just make sure to clone the current drive!
