I'm looking to decommission some old Server 2016 systems this year and am considering whether to upgrade to Server 2025 or just stick with Server 2022. We operate in a VMware environment, so I want to make the best choice for our needs. I've heard mixed reviews about Server 2025 being still glitchy, particularly in the context of domain controllers. I'd love to hear any recent experiences or insights about whether I should go for 2025 or stay with 2022 when setting up two domain controllers for our small organization. Thanks in advance for your help!

If your focus is on Active Directory and domain controllers, I really wouldn’t recommend Server 2025 just yet. Stick with what you know works, which is 2022. Plus, I’ve had some weird issues with applications on 2025 — best to avoid the headaches for critical roles.
Thanks for confirming that! I’ll keep looking into 2022.
I’ve installed 2025 in clean environments without problems. But it really doesn't play nice with existing setups. If your infrastructure is mixed, I’d avoid it, especially for anything as crucial as domain controllers. Stick to the stable options.
Glad to hear that! I’m backing off from 2025 too — I’ve got a lot of legacy systems to consider.
Thanks for the heads up! Will stick with what’s known for the time being.
We’re still building servers using 2022, especially the domain controllers. I wouldn't trust 2025 for critical infrastructure like that yet. It might be fine for other roles, but for DCs, you should play it safe.
Exactly! I’ve seen way too many issues with DCs on 2025. Better to wait until it’s proven more reliable.
Totally get that. Sounds like 2022 is the way to go for now!
We’ve started using Server 2025 for some of our non-critical infrastructure and so far, so good! But when it comes to domain controllers? I'd stick with Server 2022 for now. It's been solid and reliable.
I echo that. We’ve been using 2022 for our critical servers and have zero issues.
That makes sense. I feel more reassured sticking to 2022 for DCs.
I'd definitely recommend going with Server 2022 right now. It's stable and widely used, especially for domain controllers. 2025 feels a bit too risky, given the problems it has been reported to have. Just stick with what works until 2025 matures a bit more.

Yeah, I had some bad luck trying to deploy applications on 2025 too, so I’m with you on keeping it simple.
