Is it a good idea to switch to Linux for gaming with my RTX 3060 and i7-11700K?

I'm considering switching to Linux since I exclusively game on my PC with Steam and I'm not into games that come with Windows anti-cheat, like Fortnite. Given my setup with an NVIDIA RTX 3060 and an i7-11700K, what's the best Linux distribution for gaming? I'm also aware that there might be some performance drop compared to Windows, so I'm curious if the switch is really worth it.

Cachy OS is another good option you might want to try. It suits gamers pretty well and has a straightforward setup.

From what I've seen, performance differences can range from 10 to 20%. I still use Windows mainly for gaming and boot into Linux for everything else. It’s a decent balance if you're looking to diversify your systems.

Personally, I've found that the Ubuntu derivatives work well for gaming. They have good support for NVIDIA GPUs, so you might want to consider that route.

You should check out Bazzite; it's an immutable distro that runs really smoothly, but just a heads up, it can be a bit tricky to break into early on. Definitely worth a look!
