Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for a new monitor specifically for coding, but I'm feeling a bit lost with the multitude of choices available. Here are some things I'm not quite sure about:
- Is a curved monitor better than a flat one for long coding sessions?
- Should I go for a VA panel or an IPS panel?
- Is it worth upgrading from 1080p to 2K? And do I really need 4K for coding?
My budget is 32,000 max. Would appreciate any recommendations for good monitors within this range, and also your thoughts on these points. Thanks! 😊

For the curved vs flat debate, I think it comes down to personal taste. Honestly, after using a curved monitor for a while, I stopped noticing it. Unless you’re going for an ultra-wide, it’s not a game-changer. As for panel types, most people lean towards IPS for better color and viewing angles.
Regarding the 2K vs 1080p question, many find the jump from 1080p to 1440p significant, especially at the same screen size. However, 4K isn't necessary for coding; it really boils down to your preference. Coding has been around long before those high resolutions came into play!
I’d say a flat version might seem weird if it’s wide enough to be curved.
Curved vs flat is mostly a matter of what you'd enjoy more. Most people favor curves for gaming and movies, not really coding. Both VA and IPS panels can work for you, but IPS tends to deliver more vibrant color and good viewing angles.
About the resolution, do you mean 1440p when you say 2K? If you have the budget and want more screen real estate, it could be worth it. But if you end up scaling everything up to make it readable, you might sacrifice some of that real estate advantage.
Thanks! I’m definitely leaning towards a 32-inch monitor now and looking into LG and Samsung.
I've heard great things about both Samsung and LG when it comes to monitors. If you're into ultrawide monitors, LG has some solid panels that are highly recommended for coding.
Ultrawide LG panels might be the best fit for coding, in my opinion!

Thanks, I think I'm leaning towards a 32-inch monitor now! Gonna check out LG and Samsung options.
