I've recently decided to switch to Linux and chose Linux Mint because it's known to be user-friendly. However, I've been struggling with the installation process. The first time I tried, I ran into a GRUB installation failure, stuck at the GNU GRUB 2.12 screen when I attempted to boot. I managed to resolve it once, but it just led me to a BIOS-style menu with three options. Now, I'm on my second attempt at reinstalling, but I'm facing the same GRUB failure. I've already disabled secure boot and fast boot, but the issue persists. Can anyone help me get over this hurdle?

It might help if you clarify what choices you're making during the installation, particularly in the disk partitioning section. Are you using a GPT or MBR setup for your disk? This could affect how GRUB installs.

So, to clarify: I start from the flash drive, select 'Install Linux,' choose English, set my keyboard layout, and check 'Install multimedia codecs.' I then choose 'Erase disk and install Linux Mint,' fill in my timezone and user info, and let it install. But it fails at the 'grub-install /dev/nvme0n1' step with a fatal error. Last time I somehow fixed it using VirtualBox before installing, but now I'm stuck on this 6th attempt. Do you think getting a new SSD would solve the partition issues?
