I've been struggling with a lot of problems related to my Dell WD19s docking station. I'm trying to connect two 2k monitors to my Latitude 5430 laptop, and after updating all the necessary firmware and BIOS, the monitors are finally working. However, I'm facing a major issue—when my laptop is docked, it doesn't recognize the Ethernet connection until I disconnect and reconnect the USB-C cable after booting up. At the logon screen, the only connection available is wireless. I've checked all the BIOS settings and made sure USB boot options and Thunderbolt settings are enabled, but nothing seems to work. It's extremely frustrating as I can't seem to pinpoint whether the problem lies with the dock or the laptop itself. Before I consider drastic measures like reinstalling the OS, I would love to hear any other suggestions on what I might try next. Thanks!

Have you checked if the dock's firmware is up to date? It might not fix the issue, but it's worth a shot. Sometimes updating resolves quirky problems like this, even if it's not guaranteed.
Have you tried connecting to a different dock or another Dell 5430? I’ve seen cases where certain docks just refuse to work right with specific laptops, but they work fine with others. Testing this might give you a clearer idea if the issue is with your dock or the laptop.
That’s a wise move! It could save you a lot of headache.
From my experience, docks tend to have issues with firmware updates. I suggest you consider switching to a different dock entirely, like the WD25 or a newer model. Sometimes the older docks just don't play well with the latest laptop updates.
Yeah, I've been thinking about that since it sounds like it could save me headaches in the long run.
Absolutely! If you can get your hands on a different dock, it could make all the difference!
You should try running Dell Command Update if you haven't already. It scans and updates both your laptop and the dock software. It's one of the first things I usually do—might help sort out any version conflicts.
I totally did that! Everything's been updated, but the Ethernet issue still persists.
Good to know you tried that! Sometimes it can take a couple updates to really fix underlying issues.
I faced a similar problem, and after exhausting all options, I ended up doing a fresh install of Windows. I installed everything from scratch, including the latest Dell Command Update, and luckily, that fixed the dock issues for me. I spent way too many hours trying to fix it before resorting to that, but it worked!
Sigh, I hope it doesn’t come to that for me... I really don’t want to reinstall Windows, but I guess if it’s my last option, I might have to consider it.
Understandable! It's always a pain, hopefully, it won't come to that.

I don’t have easy access right now, but I plan to test the dock with another similar setup soon to see what happens. Fingers crossed!
