What’s the best GPU for 1440p gaming under $500?

I'm primarily using my PC for gaming and I'm also in college. Right now, I've got a Radeon 7600 paired with my Ryzen 7600. I'm playing at 1440p 144hz, but my VRAM just isn't cutting it for larger games. Even in something like Fortnite, I'm stuck playing on medium to low graphics settings to hit around 165 fps. I want to upgrade to play most games on higher settings and manage more demanding titles without maxing out my VRAM.

Is upgrading even worth it, or should I save for something like the 9070xt? Also, I'm pretty new to PC gaming, so I'm eager to understand more about the components. Any recommendations for learning resources, like YouTube channels, would be super helpful! If you have suggestions for the next upgrade I should consider (if necessary), please share! Here are my current specs for reference:

- 32GB DDR5 6000
- 1 TB WD Blue SN 580 SSD
- 240mm AIO cooler
- ASRock A620M-C motherboard

If you can find the 4070 or even the 4070 Super on sale, those would be great choices to consider!

I’d suggest saving a bit more for the non-XT version of the 9070. It may be a bit over your budget, but it’s significantly faster than the GPUs mentioned in that other comment. In Germany, it’s around 590-610 euros, and you'd be getting a card that will serve you well for years to come!

Honestly, the Radeon 7600 isn’t really up to par for 1440p gaming, especially at 165hz. It's more of a 1080p card. If you’re looking to buy new in the US, I’d recommend checking out the 9060 XT with 16GB of VRAM. If you're open to used cards, a regular 4070 with 12GB could be around $500. The 3080 is another solid option but is usually cheaper at about $300. Just remember, the 4000 series GPUs have access to NVIDIA's Frame Generation, which is a plus. If you can find a used 7800 XT, that's also a great choice since it provides more VRAM and better performance overall.

Thanks for breaking that down! If you had to pick one of those cards new, which would you go for?
