How Can I Improve Google Indexing for My WordPress Site?

Hey everyone! I've recently built a WordPress website focused on workshops and courses. Initially, it wasn't showing up on Google at all, but now it at least appears on searches for the homepage. However, if I search for terms like "website courses," only a couple of pages show up in the results, which I believe is negatively impacting my business. I'm looking for advice on what I can do to enhance the indexing of my site in Google's search database. Sorry if I'm not using the technical terms correctly, but I hope you get what I mean!

You should really think about your **Crawl Budget**. Google limits how many of your pages it checks out, especially when tons of new pages pop up online every hour. If real users engage with your content, your crawl budget might increase and Google will check more pages. Optimizing for indexing is key; you can’t just publish and expect to rank well right away without a solid SEO strategy.

Totally agree! Consistent quality and user engagement really do matter for improving that budget and visibility.

It seems like Google hasn't crawled all your pages thoroughly yet. Make sure all your pages have unique titles and meta descriptions, and that your internal linking is clear so Google can easily navigate. Submitting a sitemap through Google Search Console is essential too, and you can request indexing for pages that aren't appearing. Also, check that there aren’t any robots.txt or noindex tags blocking your pages.

Here are some specific things you should check on your WordPress site:

1. Go to Settings -> Reading and make sure the option to "Discourage search engines from indexing this site" is unchecked.
2. Submit your sitemap through Google Search Console. If you're using plugins like Yoast or RankMath, your sitemap should be at something like [https://yourdomain.com/sitemap_index.xml](https://yourdomain.com/sitemap_index.xml).
3. Check Google Search Console under "Pages" to see why certain URLs might not be indexed, like if they’re set to noindex or if they’re blocked.
4. Ensure your internal linking is solid; if your course pages only link from JavaScript widgets or aren’t in the main navigation, Google will take longer to find them.
5. If your site is new, some delay in indexing is normal. Build a few strong pages, gain real backlinks, and keep your content fresh to encourage indexing.
