Is it Safe to Take My iPhone in and out of a -24°C Freezer During Work?

Hey everyone! I have a quick question about my iPhone and whether it's safe for the phone to go in and out of extremely cold temperatures. Today, I was working in a warehouse where I had to transition from room temperature to a refrigerated area and then into a walk-in freezer that's at about -24°C (-11°F). I entered the freezer roughly 5 times an hour, staying inside for around 3 to 5 minutes each time, totaling about 7 hours of work today. My phone was kept in a thin vest pocket close to my body, and I didn't use or charge it while I was in the freezer. Given these conditions, could this exposure to the cold cause any damage to my iPhone, like issues with the battery or condensation? Or is it generally safe?

You shouldn't have any real issues. Keeping your phone in your pocket means it's likely warmed by your body heat. Just keep in mind that if it gets too cold (below around 35°F), charging it immediately can be harmful for the battery. Let it warm up first to avoid damage.

If your phone is close to your body, it should remain warm despite the freezer. As long as you resist taking it out when you’re in those extreme temperatures, it sounds fine.

For short stays like 5 minutes, your phone won’t cool down enough to be a problem. Since it was close to your body, the risk is minimal.

I work in a -10°C freezer and my phone has been fine even after hours of use for music. Just be cautious, as repeated cooling might cause issues if it happens too often.

In my opinion, it's generally safe! A few short trips in and out won't likely cause damage if the phone stays warm in your pocket.
