I recently purchased an APC 2KVA online UPS model SRK2KL, and I've noticed it doesn't come with a front intake fan filter. My previous 1KVA model had one, so I'm curious why this one doesn't. Considering my environment can be quite dusty, I'm wondering if I should create a DIY fan filter for it or just leave it as is. What do you think?

Did you mean SRV2KL instead? Bigger UPSs are designed to run in cleaner environments, like air-conditioned spaces. The manual usually warns against using them in dusty conditions. Unless it's crucial for your needs, it's best to leave it as is — modifying it could risk the warranty and safety.
I wouldn't add a filter myself. Intakes should stay unrestricted, especially for high-performance devices. If you do decide to use one, maybe try a loose filter with layered materials to reduce airflow blockage. Keeping an eye on thermal performance with an IR camera could help too.

Yes, it's SRV2KL! The 1K and 3K models have filters, but not the 2K for some reason. The filter gets dirty pretty fast, though.
