I just got some extra cash and I'm planning to upgrade my PC. I've already chosen a new GPU, but I'm on the fence about whether I should upgrade my 12700KF processor to a newer CPU or just replace my motherboard so I can use DDR5 RAM.

Sounds like you're already on the right track! I just built a PC with an 11500 and at 4K, the GPU does most of the heavy lifting. If you're focusing on 1440p, the 12700KF should serve you well without any issues.
Honestly, your 12700KF is still a solid CPU. Unless you're planning to push into some extreme gaming or really demanding applications, you might not need to upgrade it just yet. What GPU are you looking to pair with it?
It'd be beneficial to know your full setup and the resolution you’re targeting. But from what you've shared, the 12700KF is still a great CPU. If you’re upgrading to a 5080 and 32GB of DDR5 RAM, that should give you a nice boost without needing a new CPU right away.
