Is using a phone jack to connect to Ethernet a good solution for gaming ping issues?

I'm having some trouble with ping spikes while gaming and I'm currently using a WiFi extender that has an Ethernet port. I'm wondering if connecting a phone jack to an Ethernet adapter and then running a long Ethernet cable to my room would help fix these issues. Would this setup improve my gaming experience? What are your thoughts?

I think there might be some confusion about the phone jack. If you mean a standard phone line outlet, those aren’t compatible with Ethernet. You might need a specialized adapter, but it’s unlikely to give you good speeds. The best way is to run a straight Ethernet cable from your PC to your router, or you could consider a powerline adapter if running a cable isn't an option.

Totally agree about powerline adapters. They can work pretty well, but they really depend on your home's wiring. I have one too, and it only works on certain outlets. Just a heads up, if you have devices that create noise on the electrical circuit, like a treadmill, it might mess with your connection. A surge protector can help, though.
