What is the Best Linux Distro for a Tech-Challenged Family Member?

I'm looking for recommendations on a Linux distribution for my mom, who is in her late 40s and not very tech-savvy. She mainly uses her smartphone and does most of her browsing and media consumption on that. I'd like to give her an old ThinkPad T14 for web browsing, checking the news, and easy media use. I want a distro that's low-maintenance and easy to learn, ideally with a beginner's guide. Mint has come up in conversation, but I'd love to hear what others think might also work for her.

I'd recommend Linux Mint for her. It’s user-friendly, and since she’ll mostly be browsing, you don’t need any cutting-edge updates that might make things tricky. Plus, it has a simple interface that’s easy to navigate, which is perfect for someone transitioning from Windows.

Zorin OS could be a great fit too! It has a familiar layout for Windows users, which might help her feel more comfortable.

Mint is by far the best choice. It's straightforward, especially after setting up auto updates. Once you show her how to use it, it should be smooth sailing. Ubuntu is also solid, but Mint tends to be more hassle-free. The Cinnamon desktop is functional, even if some find it a bit dated.

I think I might try out a few distros with her first, so she can pick the one she likes best!
