Help! My new Windows 11 key is causing my PC to freeze

I just built a brand new PC over the weekend and activated it with a Windows 11 key today. Initially, everything was working fine. However, after entering the activation key, I noticed that while I can enter my PIN and navigate to the home screen, none of my applications will open. My keyboard and mouse become unresponsive, with a persistent loading circle on the mouse cursor. I can't even restart my computer properly anymore, as it only allows restarts from the PIN page. This situation is really stressing me out since everything is brand new.

You might want to ensure that your drivers are all up to date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause weird behavior like this, especially after a fresh installation. You can try booting into safe mode and checking for updates.

I can't even access safe mode since I'm stuck on the home screen. It's so frustrating!

Maybe try accessing it through the recovery options if you can get to the boot menu.

There's a chance that your Windows installation might be corrupted. If you created a bootable USB drive manually, it’s possible that the ISO file you used was faulty or the USB drive wasn't set up correctly. Did you use the Windows Media Creation Tool for that?

Have you tried restarting your PC after entering the key? Sometimes, a simple reboot can help resolve these kinds of issues. If you've already done that a few times, it's worth checking out your BIOS settings or how the operating system was installed.

Yeah, I've rebooted multiple times from the PIN screen, but nothing changes once I get to my home screen.

It sounds like you might have to force a shutdown. Try holding the power button until it turns off, then turn it back on.
