I'm trying to decide between thermal pastes for my Intel 12400F. Is the Thermal Grizzly Aeronaut a good choice, or would it be worth spending an extra 40% on Arctic MX-4?

If you're only applying it once and don’t need a lot, the Aeronaut is definitely sufficient. The performance differences between brands are minimal, especially since your CPU isn’t a high-power one.
Honestly, for a CPU like the 12400F, it won't make much difference which one you pick. Cheaper pastes work just fine, and you probably won't notice a performance gap. Just go with whichever fits your budget!
That's exactly my situation! I just need a small amount for this build, and the Aeronaut is cheaper for me.
