I recently got my hands on a vintage 1997 Sony Mavica camera that saves images on floppy disks. I've got a brand new floppy disk that I'm trying to access on my computer using a USB floppy disk drive, but I'm running into this error: "A: is not accessible. The disk media is not recognized. It may not be formatted." I can see the files when I view them in the camera, so it seems the camera reads the disk fine. Any ideas what might be causing this issue? Is it related to Windows or the drive?

"New" can be a tricky term here. Floppy disks lose their reliability over time, and most floppy disks you find now are really old, even if they are labeled as new. You might want to consider other methods of transferring your photos. Floppies are pretty much obsolete now!
It sounds like your USB floppy drive might be malfunctioning. Have you tried testing it with another disk? Sometimes, even new floppy disks can have issues since many disks out there are aging or degraded. It’s a bit of a gamble with vintage tech like this!

Unfortunately, yes! Sometimes new old stock can be just as hit or miss, especially with floppies.
Is that really the best advice? Just give up on the camera?
