Need Help Choosing the Right GPU for My Gaming Needs

I'm ready to upgrade my PC after using my RTX 2060 for a long time. I've done a ton of research on various graphics cards—learning which ones are recommended, which ones to avoid, and the price ranges from budget to high-end models that seem to cost a fortune. But I've reached a point of confusion and I'm back at square one: which GPU should I actually choose?

I'm a casual gamer, usually finding around five hours a week to play. I've always enjoyed gaming at 1080p and have no immediate interest in moving up to 1440p or 4K. I'm planning to upgrade my RAM from 16GB to 32GB, and I prefer to stick with NVIDIA cards. While I know some of you might suggest trying AMD for better value, I've always used NVIDIA and I'm not ready for a switch just yet.

So, is it really a bad idea to skip the RTX 5070/5080 if I'm just a casual player? Would an RTX 5060 (16GB) be a good choice for my needs? Thanks for your help!

Hey! Just a heads-up, you’re likely referring to the RTX 5060 Ti, which can come with 16GB. Just keep in mind that it's an 8-lane GPU, which might run into some performance issues if you're using a PCIe Gen 3 or 4 slot. If you’re really set on sticking to 1080p, an RTX 5050 could be a solid option with a good performance boost. But honestly, if you won’t be upgrading your monitor anytime soon, I wouldn’t overspend on stronger cards.

Definitely consider your CPU too. It’s crucial since it can bottleneck the GPU's performance. If you're set on the RTX 5060 Ti, I think it should handle 1080p gaming with ease for the next few years. Just ensure your motherboard is compatible, as the RTX 5060 Ti can have some constraints depending on your setup.

I have an MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4. Will it work fine with the RTX 5060 Ti?
