I'm looking to purchase a battery backup UPS for my setup which includes three computers and four monitors. I mainly use two of the computers for gaming and occasionally bring the third one online when I'm hosting a server for games like Minecraft or Project Zomboid. Each of my gaming PCs has two 180Hz monitors connected to battery and surge protection outlets. My wife has a 180Hz monitor along with a cheaper one, and both her PC and the 180Hz monitor are also connected to surge and battery outlets. I want to know if the APC Back-UPS Pro 1350VA or APC Back-UPS Pro BR1500MS2 are suitable options, or if they're overkill for my needs. I have about $5,000 worth of gear to protect and I'm open to spending up to $350, but I need advice on which UPS is the best fit considering my devices and needs for battery plus surge outlets. Here are the options I'm considering:
1. APC Back-UPS Pro 1500VA - $210
2. APC Back-UPS Pro 1350VA - $290
3. APC Back-UPS Pro BR1500MS2 - $350

Before deciding on a UPS, consider why you need it. If you're worried about losing unsaved data or want your game server to stay online during a power outage, investing in a UPS makes sense. However, if you just want to protect your gear from surges, a good surge protector might be enough.
I've had great experiences with Tripplite surge protectors, and they've kept my equipment safe during power fluctuations over the years. A UPS may only give you about 30 minutes of backup power, so it's not a dedicated solution if you expect outages.
Consider this: I switched to a CyberPower UPS that's rated for 1000 watts and provides a pure sine wave output. It's been excellent for my setup, and I recommend it for longer battery life too! If you're setting up an HT system, check out GoldenMate for a good option as well.
These UPS systems are great if you're looking to protect your equipment wisely.

I do have reliable power most of the time, but I’m concerned about potential surges, especially during storms. Old house problems, you know?
