Advice for Transitioning from Systems Administrator to Network Engineer?

I'm gearing up for an interview for a network engineer position and I'm a bit anxious about it. My background is primarily in systems administration, mainly working with Windows and some Linux experience. I know I might not be fully prepared for all the advanced networking challenges that might come up, but I'm eager to expand my skills. I'm looking for advice from anyone who's made a similar transition or from current network engineers on what I should focus on studying or what key areas to be aware of. I have an interview scheduled for Thursday, April 2 at 10 am, so any general tips would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely check on the job description to know what they're expecting from you. It can vary a lot, particularly if it's a junior role. Brush up on the OSI layers, subnetting, and TCP/IP basics before your interview. If the role involves cabling, understanding the differences between various cable types (like UTP, fiber optics, etc.) can also be helpful. Best of luck!

Thanks for the tips! I might need to find some good resources on subnetting. Do you have any recommendations?
