Hey everyone! I'm new to AWS and need some help. I'm taking a course at university where we have to create AWS accounts. When I tried to sign in to the console after creating my account, it asked for my credit card details, which I expected because the instructor mentioned that. However, it also generated an account name for me that resembles a gamer tag I haven't used in ages. I didn't even have a chance to choose a name! Furthermore, the shipping address was automatically filled in without me entering it. How does that happen? I'm also confused about the difference between this console account name and the initial name I was prompted to create. Is there somewhere I can find more information about these aspects, as my instructor didn't explain much? Thanks in advance!

If you're really confused, it might be best to contact AWS support directly. They can pull up your account details and clarify what’s happening. You can create a support case at their Support Center to get personalized help.
AWS doesn't automatically name your accounts. It's surprising that they used an old gamer tag and filled in details without you providing them. Sometimes, accounts can pull info from previous Amazon services or linked cards if you've used them before. It’s a bit strange, but it might be linked to any previous Amazon activity you have without you realizing it.
Regarding the account name, AWS accounts are identified by a 10-digit number. The root account is your email address. If you're seeing a gamer tag, it's likely a display name from something else. Make sure to double-check where you see that name!

That makes sense, but I’ve never used Amazon before either, and I was puzzled when it set my name and address. I didn’t enter anything at all!
