Having Trouble Installing Fedora Workstation – Need Advice and Alternatives

I'm facing some issues trying to install Fedora Workstation on my desktop. I've attempted both the Fedora 44 beta and the 43 stable versions, but neither seems to work. I used the official Fedora media creation tool and also tried Rufus, but nothing has helped. After creating the bootable USB, when I plug it into my system and access the boot menu, I get an error stating that the media can't be used for installation because the check failed. Any insights on this? Also, I'm blind, and I'm particularly interested in Fedora for its updated Orca version. If I can't get it to work, I'd love to hear other distro recommendations as well, since my Windows install has become unusable and I've had mixed experiences with Bazzite.

You might want to give openSUSE a shot! It's another solid option that might meet your needs better than Fedora.

If all else fails, you could always look into other distros like Ubuntu or Pop!_OS, as they've been pretty user-friendly and have good accessibility support too. It's all about finding what works best for you.

Are you using a regular USB stick or something like Ventoy? If it's Ventoy, make sure to safely remove it before unplugging. Otherwise, I'd recommend trying Balena Etcher instead of Rufus to create your bootable drive. If troubleshooting Fedora gets too tricky, consider trying out Linux Mint as a live USB for a smoother experience. Or if you're feeling adventurous, CachyOS has gotten some positive feedback even though I’m still testing it myself.

First off, it might be worth downloading the ISO again to ensure it's not corrupted. After that, check the hash to confirm it's good, then reinstall it on your USB drive. If you're still running into problems, you could also skip the disk check during installation to see if that lets you go forward. Seems like there could have been a hiccup during the download or writing process.

I had troubles with the Fedora Media Writer’s auto ISO downloads as well, especially on Windows. I'd suggest manually downloading the ISO from the Fedora site and verifying the checksum. Then, you can use that ISO as a custom option in the Fedora Media Writer. Also, what didn’t work for you with Bazzite? Just curious!
