I recently visited IMDB to look up some information about a movie for background viewing. To my surprise, I received an email notification thanking me for creating an account. I hadn't created an account and noticed my first name displayed in the corner, which confused me since I never signed up, and it showed the account was created today while I was just browsing. I'm really curious about how this website managed to create an account with my email just from viewing a movie page.

Double-check your settings! Sometimes, sites can acquire info if you’ve granted them permissions before. It’s always a good idea to review what you may have agreed to without knowing.
It sounds like your browser might have been signed into your Google account, which allowed the site to pull your profile info. Usually, this requires some action from you, though. Have you thought about reaching out to IMDB to clarify how this happened?
Did you happen to see a "Continue with Google" or similar pop-up while you were on the site? Sometimes we might accidentally give permission without realizing it!
I’m pretty sure I didn’t click on anything like that. I was just checking out the movie page without any intention to create an account.

That's interesting! I think it might have been linked to my Amazon account instead. I’ll definitely contact IMDB for more information.
