My Laptop Hinge is Broken, How Can I Safely Access My Files?

I've got a situation with my laptop—the hinge has broken, and I'm really worried it might completely break if I try to open it. I'm planning to buy a new laptop in a few months, so I don't want to invest in repairs right now. I just need to get my files, like pictures and documents, off this old one. Is there a safe way to do that? Whenever I try to open it, I feel like it could snap. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

No need to panic! Your files are stored on the hardware underneath the keyboard, so even if the screen breaks, there’s a good chance you can still access them. Most laptops have an HDMI port, so if you can get the screen open enough, you might just connect it to a TV. Worst case, a repair shop can take the hard drive out and retrieve your files for you. Once you get everything sorted with your new laptop, consider setting up a backup plan to avoid similar panic in the future!

Thanks for the reassurance! If I wait a few months before going to a repair shop, will my data still be safe?
