Help! My Newly Built PC Won’t Turn On – Any Tips?

I recently swapped out my case, motherboard, and CPU, but now my build won't power up. At first, it flickered briefly, but now it won't do anything at all. I even tried shorting the power with a screwdriver, but that didn't help. I'm looking for any advice or troubleshooting tips!

First off, double-check that all your spacers line up correctly with the motherboard. Sometimes, the spacers in ATX cases can cause a short circuit if they're not positioned properly. I had a friend who built his PC without any spacers and shorted the motherboard out, so it's worth verifying!

Yeah, I checked and all the spacers are lined up and none are missing.

Be sure to take a closer look at the front panel pins to make sure everything is connected right. Also, verify that the power cables are securely connected in both the PSU and motherboard. Lastly, check your power outlet to see if a fuse has tripped. It's possible your PSU might not be working properly after the swap—fingers crossed it's something easily fixable!

I read that if the fans spin for a second when I touch the power header with a screwdriver, it means the wiring is probably wrong, but nothing's happening at all.

Careful with those power cables! Make sure the GPU and CPU power cables are correctly connected—mixing them up can lead to your current problem. It's happened to me before, and it made my system unresponsive.

I made sure my PCIe cables are in the GPU and the CPU cables are in the CPU. I'm just stumped as to why it's not working.

If the system isn't showing any signs of life (no fans spinning or lights), then you might want to try disassembling it and testing everything outside the case. This 'test bench' method can help rule out shorting issues.

Since you just swapped parts, did you make sure not to mix cables from different PSU brands? Different PSUs can have different pinouts, which might cause shorting issues. Just a thought!

No, I only changed the CPU, motherboard, and case. I'm considering getting a PSU tester to check things out.
