I've got an Acer Nitro laptop (model AN515-58) that I've been using for about three years, primarily for Discord, Netflix, Facebook, and the occasional game. It's been running smoothly, though it does overheat sometimes if I have too many applications open. Recently, I had a conversation with my sister on Facebook Messenger about something concerning my boyfriend's habits. Later, he made a comment that seemed to reference what I said, which raised my suspicions. This isn't the first time something like this has happened, and I'm starting to worry there might be something suspicious going on with my laptop or phone that's letting him see my conversations—unless he's psychic, of course. I've done virus checks and reviewed running processes in the task manager. I'm the only user on this device. What else can I do to check for any spying software or unauthorized access?

If it's just a matter of him overhearing something, that's a different conversation. But if you're worried about him being invested in your online activity, it's worth confronting him. Trust is crucial in a relationship, and if it's compromised, that’s something to address directly instead of just worrying.
It's worth considering if this concern stems from past experiences rather than your boyfriend's behavior. Before jumping to conclusions about spying, take a moment to assess your relationship. If you believe he has access to your accounts, make sure you log out from all devices and update your passwords.
You’re right. I did go through some rough relationships before, and I'm trying to trust him despite feeling uneasy. I'll ensure everything is secure and see how it goes.
First, it's a good idea to check Facebook for any logged-in devices to see if he might be accessing your account from his phone or another device. If you haven't gone through that already, you should. Just log into Facebook and check the security settings to see the list of devices.
Thanks for the suggestion! I checked again, and it's only my phone and this laptop. No other devices are accessing my account.
While it's pretty unlikely, if there's any chance he has tech skills, he could be running a keylogger or malware that you might not notice. I recommend running a different antivirus software, just to be safe, since some programs can hide in plain sight. Change your passwords too, just in case he knows them.
That makes sense, I’ll definitely look into getting a different antivirus scanner. And yeah, I’m working on changing my passwords for everything!
You could consider doing a factory reset on your laptop and phone if you're really worried. This wipes everything, so if there's anything installed, it would be removed. Just make sure to back up any data you want to keep first!
That's a great idea! I don't have much I need to save except for my game library and a few documents. I'll back those up and then reset everything.

I appreciate your perspective! I think I’ll have a talk with him about my concerns, but I want to be careful about how I bring it up.
