Hey everyone! I'm curious if I can use my Cooler Master Hyper 212 Spectrum V3, which is a basic air cooler with four heatpipes, to test booting a couple of power-hungry AM4 and AM5 CPUs. Specifically, I'm looking at the Ryzen 7 5800XT and the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. I'm planning to sell the 5800XT but want to make sure that my new AM5 setup is functioning before I fully commit. I know the 5800XT can get pretty hot, but I'm not as familiar with the 7800X3D's thermal performance. By the way, I don't have one of those AM5 anti-bending frames for the socket. Do you think the Cooler Master 212 will be enough for just boot testing, or should I grab the frame for safety?

Yeah, it should be fine for a quick boot test. The 5800XT is known for running hot, but honestly, it won’t be that bad just for POST. Compared to the CPUs we have now, it’s not as extreme. So you should be good to go!

Thanks! Do you think the Hyper 212 can handle the 7800X3D for just boot testing? I plan to switch to a better cooler once I sell the 5800XT.
