I found a PNY GeForce RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7 listed for roughly $300 less than the cheapest comparable card elsewhere, and about $400 below most other options. I also have a new credit card with a 15% cashback promotion, so I was considering buying it now. I'm familiar with the more common brands like ASUS, MSI, and Gigabyte, but I don't know much about PNY. Is PNY a brand worth avoiding, or is there a catch with this particular card or series?

PNY also makes professional NVIDIA workstation cards, so it’s not some unknown manufacturer. They’ve been around for decades, and owners generally report solid reliability. A good deal on one of their cards is not automatically suspicious.
PNY is more budget-oriented and not as popular, but that doesn’t mean the hardware is poor. For a normal gaming PC, it should perform about the same as other RTX 5080 models. You’re usually paying extra with the bigger brands for the cooler design, appearance, and name recognition rather than dramatically better performance.
The main thing I’d check is warranty support rather than the card’s reputation. PNY is reputable, but warranty claims may require shipping the card to the United States, while some competing brands have Canadian RMA locations. That could make a difference if something goes wrong.
PNY is a legitimate, established NVIDIA partner and has been making graphics cards for a long time. They’re less heavily marketed than brands like ASUS or MSI, but the cards are generally perfectly fine. If this is the best price, I wouldn’t avoid it just because of the logo.
