I set Google Chrome as my default web browser, but searches from Chrome's address bar still use Bing, shown by the Bing logo in the search field. How do I switch the search engine to Google? I'm not very experienced with computer settings, so a simple explanation would help.

Making Chrome your default browser only controls which app opens links. It doesn’t change the search provider. If Bing keeps coming back after you select Google, check Chrome’s extensions and remove anything unfamiliar; security software such as Norton or McAfee can also sometimes change search settings.
You can also try another search provider, such as DuckDuckGo, if you prefer one that focuses more on blocking trackers. The important setting is under Chrome’s search engine options, not the default browser setting.
Chrome is the web browser, while Bing and Google are search engines. In Chrome, open Settings, go to Search engine, and choose Google as the search engine used in the address bar.
That clears it up—I thought Chrome itself was the search engine. I’ll check the search engine setting and my extensions.
