What GPU Should I Pair With a Ryzen 7 9700X for Open-World Gaming?

I'm in Missouri and live near the Micro Center in Brentwood. My main use for this PC is gaming, especially open-world games like ARK: Survival Evolved and The Isle. I'm trying to keep the cost as low as possible, so I'm considering the RX 9060 XT, RX 9070 GRE, and RTX 5060 Ti 8GB, but I'm open to other affordable options. I previously had an RX 7600 that stopped working after I accidentally dropped it while cleaning, so I'd also appreciate any practical advice about whether repairing it is worthwhile.

For 1080p gaming, the RX 9060 XT 16GB should be enough and would keep the initial cost down. For 1440p or more demanding settings in open-world games, the RX 9070 GRE is the better balance. As for the dropped RX 7600, it’s probably only worth repairing if you can get a low-cost diagnostic; otherwise, selling it as a parts or repair item is likely more practical.

I’d seriously consider the RX 9070 instead of the 9070 GRE if the price difference is manageable. It costs roughly 29% more but can deliver around 20% higher performance and includes more VRAM, which may help with newer games over the next few years. The RX 9060 XT 16GB isn’t especially attractive for its current price.

If you’re focused on saving money, check the used market too. A used RTX 3080, RTX 3080 Ti, RTX 4070, or RX 7800 XT could offer strong performance for less than a new card, assuming you can verify its condition and get reasonable buyer protection.
