I use one Gmail account for home and another for school. I'd like to have two desktop shortcuts, with each one opening Gmail already signed in to the correct account. Right now, both shortcuts open the same account. What's the best way to keep them separate?

Using two different browsers also works well. For example, keep your personal account in Firefox and your school account in Chrome. A normal Gmail shortcut doesn’t remember which account to use; it just opens the browser and URL, so separating the browsers avoids the mix-up.
The easiest solution is to create two separate browser profiles—one for your home account and one for your school account. Sign in to the appropriate Google account in each profile, then create a desktop shortcut from each profile. You can give the profiles different names or themes so they’re easy to tell apart.
You can stay in one browser profile and switch between Google accounts using the account-specific Gmail URLs, such as the versions ending in /1/ and /2/. That works for quick access, but separate browser profiles are usually cleaner because each one keeps its own cookies, bookmarks, and sign-in state.

Separate profiles sound like the better option since I want each desktop shortcut to open the right account automatically.
