I've been having a frustrating issue with my AirPods Pro. Whenever I step outside with them, whether I'm using my iPhone or my Apple Watch, the audio just stops working. It randomly pauses no matter what app I'm using. I think it might be trying to connect to my other devices inside, like my iPad and Mac Studio. The problem is even worse when I use my Apple Watch (the cellular version). Even with music downloaded, I'm unable to play it while moving around the yard doing chores. Sometimes the sound even stutters. The main reason I got the cellular watch was to use it independently of my phone. I know it's the AirPods causing the issue because I tried some budget Bluetooth earbuds and they work perfectly. If I'm indoors or further away from the house on a walk, everything's fine. It seems like Apple's attempt at seamless device switching has made the AirPods unusable outside. Has anyone else had similar experiences?

A simple workaround for you could be to turn off Bluetooth on your inside devices when you're outside. Just a quick fix, even if it’s not a permanent solution.
Have you checked your AirPod settings? Make sure they're set to connect to the last used device instead of automatically switching. There's also a feature that lowers volume when it detects talking, which could be causing the pauses. Just a thought!
I checked, and they are set to stay connected to the last device. No luck there!
You're not alone! I can’t use Siri or any internet-related apps outside either, as my devices get confused if I'm within Wi-Fi range of my house. They only work properly when I'm further away. The audio issues you mentioned mostly happen with my watch and not my phone.

That’s funny, I have the same thing happen about 200 feet away from my house, in the same spot! I thought it was due to the Wi-Fi disconnecting, but who knows? I might give your phone idea a try, though I'm not keen on having to remember that.
If your other Bluetooth devices work fine, it sounds like a problem specific to the AirPods. They usually should work without issues. There might be some interference outside that they’re sensitive to. You might want to reach out to AppleCare for help.
