Is a used RTX 3080 worth £280–£310 in 2026?

I've found a top-condition RTX 3080 listed for £310 and I'm hoping to negotiate it down to around £280–£290. I'm not very familiar with current graphics card prices, so is that a sensible deal in 2026? Also, if I buy it but don't use it for a while, is it likely to retain its value?

Around £300 is fairly normal for a 3080 at the moment, and it still offers strong performance for the money. If you can get it for £280–£290 and verify that it works properly, that would be a reasonable purchase. Just don’t assume it will hold its value—GPU prices can change quickly, and simply leaving it unused won’t guarantee the price stays stable.

I managed to get the seller down to £290. Would you consider that good enough, or should I keep looking?

For £290, I’d mainly focus on testing it thoroughly and checking whether there’s any remaining warranty. Its future resale value is difficult to predict.

A 3080 is still a very capable card, especially if you undervolt it to reduce power consumption and heat. I bought a well-kept model for £260 previously, so £280 would be a strong deal and £290 could still be acceptable if the condition is excellent. Make sure you test temperatures, fan noise, ports, and stability before paying.

Where you buy it matters too. A private sale may be cheaper, but a retailer or marketplace with buyer protection can be worth paying a little extra for.

It’s a fair price, but not the absolute cheapest. The main drawback is the 10GB of VRAM, which can become limiting in newer games at high settings. I’d try to find one around £250–£260 if you’re willing to wait, while a 3080 Ti with 12GB for roughly £300–£320 could be the better long-term option.
