Can Apple assess and accept the phone in-store, and would I need to hand it over immediately, or could I transfer my data and make sure the new phone works first? Some travellers have successfully activated eSIM-only phones in the US, especially over hotel Wi-Fi. Carrier support matters more than the country you’re in, so check directly with your UK provider whether they allow SIM-to-eSIM conversion overseas and whether your account can activate the eSIM on the new device. If you trade in your old phone first, make sure you have another way to receive verification codes.
A store trade-in and setup can take several hours, and completing the transfer may still require extra time afterward for passwords, apps, and other settings. If possible, back up the OnePlus thoroughly before visiting the store. Also confirm in advance that the specific OnePlus model is eligible for Apple’s current US trade-in program; Android eligibility and values can vary by model and condition.
Warranty service may be available internationally, but the process and available parts or service options can differ by country. A US model can also have different cellular bands or hardware connections from the UK version, so check compatibility with your UK carrier before buying.
